OVOS Celebration Event Feb 2017

The idea for Dream and Achieve was devised by OVOS members who wanted a celebratory style circus theme for all ages.

They were given a budget and chose the venue and agreed what entertainment there would be.

Two older members of OVOS hosted and compared the event gaining more confidence as the evening progressed. They were great ambassadors for OVOS.

Over 64children and young people attended with 43 foster carers, all enjoying a wide range of activities, a ‘one man band’, circus skills workshop, fire breather show, photo booth, face painting, close up magician (aged 12!), life sized cartoon characters, and a host of fun stalls where children won prizes.

An Awards ceremony saw each child and young person receive a certificate presented by The Mayor recognising the achievements each of them had made including two special awards sponsored by Engage and JLR. The JLR ‘Award for Excellence’ recognised individuals who consistently excelled in their discipline/pursuit/interest, demonstrated their willingness to work positively, demonstrated significant commitment to their discipline/ pursuit /interest, achieved outstanding results, has consistently aimed for excellence in their discipline/ pursuit /interest and demonstrated outstanding attitude to their discipline/ pursuit /interest.

The Engage award for ‘Significant Progress’ recognised individuals who had made significant progress in the last year in their discipline/ pursuit /interest, had overcome personal challenge to achieve, had continuously aspired to progress towards personal goals (e.g, attending school or a group or moving placement), had worked hard to achieve, had improved the quality of their work and had increased their self-belief.

Gold, Silver and Bronze awards were given out to some very excited and deserving winners.
